The Vestavia Hills Parks and Recreation Foundation exists in order to strengthen our local community through investments in parks and recreation activities for people of all ages. With approximately 6,000 youth participating in Vestavia Hills Parks and Recreation programs, there is a definite need for facilities of which we can be proud. To that end our Mayor, the City Council, and the Parks and Recreation Board have committed to expanding and improving our facilities in community-changing ways and the Foundation looks forward to assisting in this endeavor.

Wald Park Playground
Purchase of property for McCallum Park $147K

$5,000 for a needs assessment study for the parks
$113,000 for field design/study
$64,000 for batting cages at Vestavia Youth Softball. Half paid back by Girls Softball over 3 years
$24K for helmets for the OTM football league. The OTM league agreed to pay back over 5 years.
SHAC sound system
Partnered with the City on a grant for the bridge at McCallum Park. The Foundation matched the grant donating $50K to this project.
Partnered with the Vestavia Hills Youth Football program to provide additional bleachers for seating at the SHAC.
$220K SHAC phase 1 including fields and parking expansion
Sponsored the Vestavia Hills Swim Safety in the Hills in partnership with the Vestavia YMCA to provide free swim lessons for kids in our community.
SHAC phase 2 Recreational Park – $700K in partnership with cityfor a $1.3 million park facility
